As promised, here is the review for the famous basketball anime, Kuroko no Basuke. I know I was supposed to have done it in the previous post but I had just finished the game that day so I absolutely HAD to do that review first cause the ending was soo.......sorry for the language but it was so f@#ked up!Anyway, back to the anime. NOTE: I haven't read the manga and have only watched the anime. There are also most likely going to be spoilers if you haven't finished reading/watching the manga/anime.
Kuroko no Basuke is mainly focused on two boys which are Kuroko and Kagami. Kuroko was the sixth, "phantom" member of a basketball group called the Generation of Miracles. Kagami, which is great at basketball cause of his build and muscles and all that finds out about this group and targets to beat them. The two of them go to the same school and signed up for the basketball team. Thing which made me like this anime a LOT is the characters cause they are all so....unique! The reason Kuroko was known as the phantom member was cause he has very very VERY little presence. My favourite character so far are these two characters eventhough they had almost no screen time. These guys are Atsushi, the purple-haired giant of a guy) and Arashi? I think that's his name. The other guy with red hair. Anyway, back to describing the characters. There really is a wide variety. There is Kuroko the kudere(no emotion), Kise the deredere(happy-go-lucky), Ma....ma-something,the green-haired guy, which is a tsundere, Aomine the kamidere(the person who thinks he/she is undefeatable and is perfect), Atsushi the dandere(the "I don't give a shit" person) and lastly, Arashi the yandere(the type that seems normal but turns out to be a scary and deady maniac).
Character wise, it was pretty good. Even the non-main characters were interesting and had their own traits. The story-line was also quite good. There were times where I thought it was cliche and times were I thought it was bringing up random points about the characters, but after an episode or a few, that trait is re-mentioned or used and makes the character a lot more interesting. The idea of the story is also quite good so...good job to the original artist for making a good manga.
Truthfully, I really don't like sports manga or anime but I gave this a shot cause I really liked the fan-art it was getting(I saw a lot of Atsushi fan-art) so ..yeah. And since I know a bit about basketball, the anime didn't leave me clueless but there were times where I just wondered, wtf are they talking about.
ANYWAY, in a nutshell, I think Kuroko no Basuke was a good, almost great, anime/manga and I definitely recommend it to all of you. I'd give it a 8.5 out of 10 and I'll be looking forward to see what you guys have to say.
Have to go no-
Yeah, I'm joking. Not done yet. I just got back home to finish this post but I really wanted to talk about a new movie that just came out recently. It's called Oz and it's supposed to be a prequel to the Wizard of Oz....I think...yeah.
It's about a performer names Oscar but calls himself Oz. He left the circus he worked at to go to their next spot but a tornado pulls him in and drags him to the land of Oz. There, he meets a pretty lady, a witch, called Theodora, and she is easily described with her pretty face, red clothes and lovely red sunhat. SPOLER WARNING from here on. She and Oz get chased by flyng baboons and they hide. Oz, claiming to be the wizard, lures them away by letting go of a dove that he hid for his magic tricks at the circus. After they escape, they walk down the yellow brick road, heading for Emerald city. They stop during the night and Theodora takesoff her jacket and her hat. She also unites her hair to show that she was very pretty. Oz starts flirting with her and she mentions that no one ever tries to flirt with her. He also asks her to dance and they do so.Theodora obviously falls in love with Oz.
Continuing on their journey, they find a flying monkey trapped in vines and roots and asking for help. He yells about being eaten and Oz makes fun of him saying the tree won't eat him. The monkey says he wasn't scared of the tree but the lion and Oz's face changes. He turns to see the lion and just Asia attacked, he let out a smoke bomb of red smoke and it scares the lion away.
Theodora complements him for being a great wizard and the monkey swears loyalty to Oz. Once Emerald city was in sight, Theodora cheers and asks that when Oz becomes King, will he make her his queen. He says yes. With much happiness, she skips ahead. Oz discusses thing with the monkey, asking if the oath could be taken back and when he says no, Oz tells him that he isn't the wizard.
ANYWAY, I'll summarize it. I'm getting a bit tired. Theodora's sister that was taking care of the city shows Oz the riches of being King and tells him to go and kill the evil witch at the dark woods by breaking her wand. He leaves without telling Theodora. The two men leave the city and head for the dark woods but when they reached a fork in the path, the two go towards China town because there was smoke. There, they meet a little doll that had her legs broken. She was crying because everyone in her town was broken and she couldn't leave for help. Oz fixes her legs with "magic in a bottle" (glue) and she joins the party after pretending to cry to get Oz to let her follow.
Once in the woods, they find the witch and steal her wand, only to discover that the witch was Glinda the good.Glinda tells Oz the truth and that her father wasn't killed by her, as Theodora's sister claimed, but by the sister herself. The sister was the true wicked witch. Theodora's sister, who is watching the whole thing through a crystal ball shows this to Theodora and says that she got to dance with Oz and he gave her a present, a music box. The same music box Oz gave her at the campfire the night they danced together. The sister says that Oz might be siding with Glinda and that he might make her queen since they look good together. This angers and saddens Theodora and she cries hot tears that burn her face.(Theodora masters over fire so when she's angry, she throws fireballs by accident, and when sad, cries hot tears that burn her face.) She goes to her room and smashes the mirror when she tells herself,"Serves you right."
She confronts her sister and her sister gives her an apple to make her forget and stop the pain in her heart. Theodora bites the apple and she starts feeling a horrid pain in her chest. Her sister says that it was only her heart shriveling up and dying. Just before Theodora collapses, she glares at her sister and says," You're the wicked witch," with tears in her eyes. She collapses and when she rises again, she clings to the table with green hands and black nails(claws).
So, after some fighting, confronting(Theodora appears at Glinda's land and shows Oz what happened to her and blames him for it), and more fighting, Oz scares the two witches away using smoke and some visual effects, he becomes the King as the great wizard,Oz. just before he seals himself off behind the throne, he says goodbye to everyone and gives them all gifts. The monkey gets his top hat and friendship, the doll got a new family which was Glinda, the monkey, sourpuss(that's his nickname. Can't remember the real name), the main thinker and himself. Glinda gets a kiss behind the curtains.
The story was good...I guess. The graphics, background designs and clothes designs we're amazing. The characters were also okay. In a nutshell, it was a good movie. I think you should watch it as this is very biased cause I didn't like how Theodora was treated. I really liked her and when she became the very infamous green-skinned wicked witch, I really didn't like the movie anymore. I give the movie a 6.7 out of 10.
I have to go now. Have to wake up early...ugh. Bye~
